Important Changes for Travel to New Zealand

Commencing October 1 2019, most international travellers visiting New Zealand will be required to obtain an Electronic Travel Authority before entering the country.

The New Zealand Electronic Travel Authority (NZeTA) will be required for visa-free entry to New Zealand.

Australian citizens travelling to New Zealand on an Australian passport will be exempt from the NZeTA requirement.

Permanent residents of Australia who are not Australian citizens and hold another country’s passport will need to obtain a NZeTA - as will visitors from other visa-waiver countries like the United States and UK.

The cost of obtaining a NZeTA will be NZ$9 when completed via the mobile app, or NZ$12 when completed online. You will require 72 hours for processing.

The NZeTA will be valid for two years or until the travellers passport expires.
