Kevin's Short Guide to Tokyo
Kevin Headings, our General Manager recently went on an educational trip to Japan, he had such an awesome time in Tokyo, we thought we should share his guide based on a short stay in Japan's busiest city
What is so special about Tokyo?
The fascinating mix of old and new makes Tokyo a melting pot of cultural diversity. One moment you can be in an ancient temple or shrine and then just around the corner you’re in the global hub of technology and looking at robots! I even had lunch at a “hedgehog café” in between.
You spent 4 days in Tokyo, what should I do and see on a 3-4 day trip to Tokyo?
Once you have taken in the main sights of Tokyo, I would recommend a shopping day in Ginza with its many department stores and quirky shops. The next day to experience a taste of Japanese heritage, try out the Kimono and Calligraphy experience at the Shunkaen Bonsai Museum!
How and where can I meet a Geisha?
Take a stroll down Takeshita Street which is a pedestrian shopping street lined with fashion boutiques, cafes and restaurants in Harajuku and you will see plenty wandering around. Alternatively there also free Geisha performances that take place at the Asakusa Culture Centre which is close to the Asakusa Kannon Temple!
