Why would (SME) Small and Medium Enterprises need a Travel Management company?

Written by Louise Brettell Polis

This is a question I hear frequently when discussing using a TMC with many small to medium sized business owners who don’t believe they have the spend to justify using a Travel Management Company. What you’re really missing out on is our access to consolidated buying power, discounts on preferred hotels, car hire and other suppliers. Not to mention we have an amazing GDS (Global Distribution System) where we can connect our clients to better deals than what they will find sourcing the internet themselves.

Within the last twelve months we have seen the collapse of two leading online booking platforms. It was such a shame as many companies experienced significant financial losses because these websites don’t ensure financial security.

What happens if something goes wrong? Earthquakes, terrorism and viruses. Unfortunately, it does happen; we are currently experiencing an outbreak of the Coronavirus which has meant many flights have been rescheduled, travel plans cancelled and individual quarantines. Our clients can rest assured that we are fully licensed and accredited. We have inbuilt policy compliance systems in place to facilitate Duty of Care.

Leading organisations have found huge advantages in using a TMC. You would be challenged to find a leading brand that doesn’t use one. This is because Travel Management is a specialised business function that balances employee needs with corporate goals – financial and employee satisfaction. Travel management ensures tracking of your costs and control, adherence to corporate travel policies, realises savings through negotiated discounts, and serves as a valuable information centre for employees and managers in times when travel is not as smooth and carefree as it should be.
