Rebekah's Top 5 in Japan
Rebekah shares her top 5 places to visit in Japan for 2017!
1.NISEKO – GRAND HIRAFU
Located a 2 hour drive from Sapporo Airport, Grand Hirafu is a beautiful ski resort town. The Grand Hirafu Mountain is great for all ages with runs for beginners to expert skiers and snowboarders with lessons available also. Take a walk around the snow covered town and pop into one of the many cosy bars or restaurants or if you’re brave enough to try a traditional Onsen.
2. TOKYO - Tsukiji Fish Market
The Tsukiji Fish Market in Tokyo is a great and different option for lunch. Hundreds of stalls selling fresh seafood (tuna, lobster, scallops) which they cook right in front of you. There are also great sushi trains and restaurants located in the fish market which served the best sushi we had over our 3 weeks in Japan.
3.KYOTO – Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine
Just a short train ride from the centre of Kyoto, take a trip to visit the Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine, one of the most popular shrines in Japan. The shrine sits at the base of the mountain with over 5000 orange ‘gates’ which line the windy trails up the mountain. Although quite a long hike up the mountain, you are rewarded with spectacular views over Kyoto. We would recommend arriving early in the morning to beat the crowds determined to get that Instagram shot!
4.OSAKA
Visit the Umeda Sky Building and watch the sunset. The Umeda Sky Building is a must visit when in Osaka. This amazing building has 360 views of Osaka. We would recommend arriving around 5pm to grab a cocktail or dinner at the restaurant and watch the sunset.
5.OSAKA (Again!)
Eat at the restaurants in Dotonbori, OsakaDotonbori is in the Namba district of Osaka. The streets that line the Dotonbori Canal are very busy and offer a great range of shopping options as well as street food and restaurants from Sushi, Gyozas, Okonomiyaki (Japanese pancakes) and Japanese BBQ.
